Frustration has gotten the best of me as far as teaching internet marketing goes. Explaining the most basic principles of IM is like trying to teach quantum physics to neanderthal cavemen. And just what are those three basic principles?

Things like:

1. Learning the most productive ways of generating website traffic…
2. Actually getting traffic to your site or an affiliate site you’re signed up with and…
3. Recycling that traffic…

What’s amazing is that some of the ones I’ve shared these things with were or are already involved in sales of some sort. Not necessarily legal but this makes no difference because business is business. Whether you have sold dope, delved in the art of pimpology, or sold Amway products door to door the methodology is still the same as it is for making money online:

You must learn where the people who want your particular offer congregate and how to approach them so that they will not only buy from you specifically,but continue to buy from you over and over again.

So-called internet gurus might argue that you really need the right product, but if you know how to constantly pull people/get traffic then it doesn’t matter, you can sell anything. Just look at the history of some of the weird items that have been sold on eBay. This proves there is definitely a market for ANY product as well as a product for ANY market. Here’s the skinny: Ebay kicked me out of their affiliate program once citing some lame i-frame issue, then I signed back up using a different email address while also signing up through PepperJam. The different email sign-up got dissed because according to a ridiculous email they sent me “my traffic was not up to standards to what other affiliates were doing” although I broke no rules and made lots of money. As for my Ebay affiliation through PepperJam, Ebay literally just disappeared from their site panel.

What did I do next?

Signed back up eith EPN(Ebay Partner Network) using yet another email! Hmmm…I wonder how long it will take for them to shut this account down? Probably within 48 hours of this post going live L.o.L.

Now you may be wondering: why even go through all this, it’s not Ebay’s the only affiliate program in town? However, for me it is definitely the most lucrative one. The traffic I drove to Ebay converted instantly making money for me and Ebay both…so what’s really up with them?

It seems they’ve finally gotten so big that they no longer need money!

 It’s all good though because there is more than one affiliate program along with more than one way to drive traffic to them. I got some simple reminders of this while reading a free little ebook by Harvey Segal called Ultimate SuperTips.

The Ebay affiliate program has been mainly responisible for me earning a decent living over the past couple of years. I merely redirect traffic to my site which had an Ebay categories menu embedded with my affiliate id on it. Whenever someone bid,bought something,or registered as a new member I got paid like clockwork without any problems whatsoever.

Then Ebay made a switch to a new affiliate platform which allowed for more promotional tools and an advanced accounting system. This only made it better……………….until I got the following email:

During a recent review, we have found that your account has violated the eBay Partner Network Code of Conduct. We have terminated your account, effective immediately. We will pay out any commissions you have accrued this month in the normal payout timeline.

We have gathered evidence that your methods of promotion include the generation of non-user initiated clicks.

As stated in the ePN Code of Conduct section (A), these practices are prohibited.

(A) Non-Bona Fide Transactions:

• 1. You will not cause any transactions to be made that are not in good faith, including but not limited to using invisible methods to generate impressions, clicks or transactions that are not initiated by the affirmative action of an end user, or using any cookie, device, program, robot, Iframe or hidden frame, pop-up window or any other operation or process that interferes with our ability to properly identify and track transactions.

2. You will not deliver any ePN-related cookies or other tracking tags to the computers of users that are merely viewing your advertisements or while your applications are merely active or open.

3. You will not interfere with or seek to improperly influence the referral of an end user to Participating Sites and Content unless the end user knowingly and explicitly consents to that behavior by taking an affirmative action.

First of all,there were no secret tracking devices installed and every visitor had an unique ip address so my best guess is that they’re referring to my use of frames. However,as I mentioned in the beginning,I’ve been with them for a couple of years using the same site -with the same frames- and there was NEVER a problem.

I replied immediately explaining this and requested a reconsideration even though their terms state you can never apply again once you get terminated. Until I hear a positive response from Ebay I’ll see how Amazon’s category menu works out. This is all helping me to understand why so many former eBay users are now so pissed off. Their rules are not evenly applied and its subject to any reinterpretation by they desire. For example: I know of an entrepreneur who was booted from eBay for selling replica handbags,yet the powersellers are allowed to sell all the fake stuff they want…and these powersellers don’t even bother telling the viewer it’s a replica!

In the words of Arsenio Hall back in the day,” it just makes you go hmmmmmm” Will I be the next to join the eBay Burn In Hell Bandwagon? We’ll see…I’ll keep you updated.

It is no secret that backlinks have superseded meta tags and directory submissions as the way to Page Rank glory and massive traffic stampedes. To obtain these coveted backlinks most bloggers and internet marketers leave comments on websites that have the famous “do follow” tag which basically means Google’s robot crawlers will “follow” that particular link thereby giving a vote to the site that the link leads to. And of course, the higher the PR of the site you comment on, the more weight the backlink you receive holds.

However, the heaviest weighted backlink is where your live link is contained in an actual article or blog post. One reason for this is that it’s the primary content search engine robots read first. If you don’t believe me, then just use the search engine robot simulator on one of your favorite sites to see what I mean. Also, a post tends to stay on a site forever or at least as long as the site is operational which means a longer lasting vote for your link…the more votes your link gets, the higher it rises in Page Rank which generates more search engine traffic :smile_wp:

Although, there are methods such as contest posting, blog post swapping, and “riffing” to obtain such weighty backlinks, the best method is for another blogger to simply write about you on his/her own giving praise for some of your work. This is a backlink you did not even have to work for! I obtained such a backlink from Mitch who is an exceptionally good writer at his I’m Just Sharing blog.

Upon noticing this backlink from checking my stats, I immediately went to his site and promised I would reciprocate. Well, days went by while my workload doubled and I still hadn’t reciprocated yet. And just to be clear, NOT keeping your word is a good way to ruin your reputation in any setting.

Mitch -being the smart blogger he is- hit my comments section up with his jewels of wisdom to the point of making it in my Top Commentators spot which inevitably gave him a live link back that expands throughout my whole site!

Most Top Commentator widgets are “do follow” and are contained on nearly every page of a site, so no matter where a visitor or search engine robot goes they will see it…this multiplies the amount of backlinks you get spelling MASSIVE EXPOSURE!

Now to be honest, I don’t know if this was Mitch’s actual intentions, but it is a worthy thing to think about when you link to webmasters who act like they don’t want to link back to you :idea_wp:
